This term our main topic that we have done has been Take action for water.
We have to write a report about a native animal like a Banded Kokopu, a Mayfly, a Cased Caddisfly and Kokobullies.
We took notes about Aquatic Insects and put it on to a pages document.
Notes:
Aquatic Insects:
*A Terrestrial insect is a insect that lives on land then in the water.
*There are some animals that can’t be in the water because it is so polluted.
*You will find a lot of animals in rivers or streams near mountains because isn’t polluted or there isn’t cow droppings and things that in those rivers/streams.
*But in or near our town rivers/streams and out in the country not a lot of insects live in there because of its pollution. For example cow droppings, a lot of people around them and traffic and things.
*The Metamorphosis is the life cycle of the insect.
*Some animals/insects have an incomplete life cycle like the dragonfly. It has the egg the nymph and then the adult.
*Most insects have 6 legs.
*Most adults have wings.
*Larva is usually like slug with out legs.
Here is my report writing about my animal The Cased Caddisfly.
We have had Mr Southey come in and we took notes from what he had to say about Animals in a catchment and he also talked about, the legal amount for
Crayfish and Paua.
Take Action For Water
We have been learning a lot about the effect on our environment and, have been doing heaps of work sheets about taking action for our water supplies.
This is one of the Stream Pollution things we had to do.
Term 3
What we basically had to do for this topic was make up a keynote for either the Pitt Island or the Chatham Island. I decided to do mine on Pitt Island. I have presented it into a keynote and told you a bit about it.
Another LEARNZ topic we started was about the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and we are still making progress through that. We have done this learning thing on I Web. Take a look.
